As the winter months roll around, the days are shorter and the sunlight less intense. This provides the perfect breeding ground for green algae, mould, moss, and mildew to grow on your outdoor surfaces after rainfall. The most common areas are along the southern sides of homes, under trees and in other shaded areas where drainage is slow.
Aside from being unsightly, algae and other undesired growths are often slippery when wet making outdoor areas unsafe.
Removing these growths is easily done by a professional. Pressure washing is an effective way to remove the build up. A detergent may be required to assist in removal. The next step is to seal the areas to prevent further growth. Sealants won’t entirely prevent the growths recurring, however it should slow them down and make removal easier in the future.
Of course there are products on the market allowing you to DIY the removal, however they often require a decent amount of downtime or repeat applications. Keep it simple, and call Jim’s for your free quote for all of your pressure cleaning needs.
