What Type of Car Owner/ Client Are You?

Let me preface everything that is to follow by saying that we love our clients and without them we would not have the thriving businesses that we have today. But, we love some clients just a bit more than other clients.

Wet = Clean

Actually most of these owners are not yet our clients [hopefully they will be one day]. They have a flawed belief that if they run their auto through a car wash – it comes out the other end clean.

It doesn’t, it comes out wet. And wet is not clean.

In fact, as soon as they drive off the forecourt the vehicle is attracting dirt. And don’t start me off, on what that does to the windows [glass = silicone = sand = porous] which will end up with immovable water stains.

There is a reason that a Jim’s Car Detailer performs 3 stages – pre-wash – wash – and dry, and that is because every stage adds to the finished product. A totally clean vehicle.

Great Expectations

Very often this is our first encounter with this client. They have heard of Car Detailing [in the vaguest of terms] but have little real understanding of what one does.

What they hope it does is ‘to wave a magic wand’ and make their oft-time neglected and uncared for vehicle, just like new again.

I guess this is where the term ‘managing expectations’ comes from because our first task for this client is to explain what can be realistically achieved.

Your Jim’s Car Detailer is good but you need to have done your part and looked after your vehicle, to get the best results.

Better Clean – Being Sold

After a while we all get the urge / desire / need to buy a new/ pre loved vehicle and understand that a complete stranger is going to be assessing the value of our current vehicle and that maybe it would be a good idea to try and improve said vehicles appearance and corresponding value.

A good decision albeit a little late. The smart decision would have been to have your vehicle routinely cleaned thus retaining the original charm and good looks.

You know your Jim’s Car Detailer can remove minor spills and scuffs as part of a scheduled service, often at no extra cost.

The Spectator

New ‘Jim’s’ I speak to about The Spectator often think that it is a myth, but soon learn that it is completely true.

The Spectator is often the client’s husband and very often a remote worker i.e. he is not always at home but when he is, he has time on his hands.

Note: True fact, that the larger percentage of my clients were of the female persuasion

So when we arrive to clean the family car, the one that mum drives, he actually pulls up a garden chair, grabs a coffee and watches what happens. At some point he will need to stretch his legs and wander across to inspect the contents and set up of ‘Jim Mobile’.

As odd as this sounds it is not a problem, because Jim’s Car Detailing knows how to detail your vehicle and to always assume ‘that someone is watching you’. I think the Spectator has dreams of being a Jim’s Car Detailer.

The Spectator Variant

The variant wants to engage in conversation and to let you know that ‘he used to be a detailer’. He offers unsolicited tips on the use of chemicals and techniques.

This type of Spectator may simply want to form a bond with the Jim’s Car Detailer but trust me, best to say hello and then leave Jim to concentrate on the job at hand.

The New Mum

What a great day it is when you bring your newborn home from the hospital. Only made nicer by having a freshly detailed / sanitised vehicle.

It would probably be nice if the child could grow up in a clean vehicle environment but alas not all mums take advantage of this.

If it’s important when you bring them home, isn’t it just as important when you run them to school or to ballet classes? Your local Jim’s Car Detailing can provide a regular affordable service that ensures that both you and the family can enjoy a clean car.

The Defiant Mum

The family car has just been detailed. The seats have all been shampooed. The toys and food scraps have all been collected. The windows have been polished.

Mum declares that ‘they are never going to eat in the car again !’

In reality it doesn’t last beyond the next time the children are collected from an activity and they are hungry. The solution of course is a quick fast food drive through and a bag of chips each.

Note: you would be amazed at how many chips get down the sides of the seats.

At the end of the day, raising a family is hard enough, why not ask your local Jim’s Car Detailer to look after your vehicle.

You Love Your Car

Our very favourite client and our most abundant .. you love your car, and you want Jim’s Car Detailing to help you look after it.

  • When you first bought the vehicle you asked us to look to the future and to add a paint protection.
  • On a regular basis you schedule us to clean the interior and to wash the exterior
  • Each year you ask us to shampoo the interior and polish the exterior
  • And when you decide to replace your vehicle you get a fantastic price, reflecting the care and attention that you showered on her.

Jim’s Car Detailing loves all our clients, but we really love the clients that love their vehicles. Let Jim’s help you to love your car.
