How To Clean Concrete Floors

Concrete floors are known for their durability and low maintenance, making them popular for indoor and outdoor spaces. However, like any flooring, they require regular cleaning to maintain their appearance and functionality.

Whether dealing with a polished indoor floor or a rough outdoor surface, this guide will walk you through the best practices on how to clean concrete floors effectively.

How often should you be cleaning concrete floors?

The frequency of cleaning your concrete floors depends on their location and usage. Weekly dust-mop indoor floors and clean outdoor concrete floors, such as driveways and patios, once a year or more frequently, depending on your needs.

They may require more frequent cleaning due to exposure to the elements and heavy foot traffic. Regular maintenance keeps your floors looking great, helps prevent damage and prolongs their lifespan.

What you’ll need

Before you begin cleaning your concrete floors, clear the area of any furniture, rugs, or other obstacles. This ensures you have full access to the floor and prevents any damage to your belongings.

To clean concrete floors, you will need the following supplies:

  • Broom or dust mop
  • Vacuum cleaner (for indoor floors)
  • Mild detergent or pH-neutral cleaner
  • Mop and bucket
  • Scrub brush
  • Pressure washer (for outdoor floors)
  • Baking soda
  • White vinegar
  • Lemon juice
  • Cat litter (for oil stains)
  • Microfibre mop (for polished floors)
