When it comes to cleaning, bathrooms are probably the most dreaded task. The dampness of the environment, and simple nature of what lays within is unappealing. We’ve got the top tips from the professionals so you can maintain a fresh & clean bathroom year round.
The first secret to a clean bathroom? If not using is isn’t an option, the next best thing is to regularly put in some sort of cleaning effort. Wiping down the vanity & sink every few days only takes a minute and makes a big difference in the appearance of your bathroom. The same goes for mirrors and shower glass.
Speaking of the shower glass, let’s get into how you can get the shower sparkling from top to bottom! We’re going to again recommend regular maintenance. There’s no need to spray, scrub and wipe down every surface daily, however if you can squeegee surfaces after each shower you will greatly improve your cleaning time. Our step by step shower cleaning tips are below:
- Remove all shower accessories and bottles
- Spray the entire area with a commercial shower cleaner
- Allow a few minutes for the product to penetrate the dirt and grime
- Gently scrub tiles and glass with a soft cloth/soft bristled brush
- Use a soft-bristled brush to clean around taps, corners and drains.
- Sprinkle the base of the shower with baking soda and let sit for approx. 10 minutes
- Gently scrub with a soft-bristled brush
- Rinse the entire shower with water and wipe away excess water with a squeegee or towel to prevent water spots
Note: Always spot clean an area to ensure the products you are using are suitable with the surfaces.
The bathroom sink and vanity is quick to who gunk and grime. Hair strands, toothpaste build-up and a heap of germs to name a few culprits making your sink look unsightly. Personally we love to remove built-up grime with a cream cleaner (think jif, gumption etc.) first. Lather on the sink and vanity with a soft cloth. Pay special attention to tapware, joins and any small spaces where water or products can build up. Wet your cloth and remove all traces of the cleaner. We then like to go in with a disinfectant spray all over the sink and vanity to ensure germ are removed. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Apply this same method to clean your bathtub.
Toilet cleaning isn’t fun for anyone… We can’t sugar coat this one. But it isn’t actually a hard job! Once you get around the unpleasantness of it. First step, wear gloves! Second step, apply toilet bowl cleaner thoroughly around the bowl of the toilet. Allow this to sit on the bowl for around 5 minutes before scrubbing with a stiff bristled toilet brush. Flush. Wipe down the toilet seat (don’t forget underneath), lid, and flush button with antibacterial disinfectant wipes. Remember that your toilet brush needs cleaning too! After use, let the toilet brush dry out of the caddy and spray with disinfectant.
Don’t forget to look up! Vacuum the dust from the grill of your bathroom fan. Wipe down with a soapy water solution to remove any dried on dust that vacuuming won’t budge.
