Cleaning and the NDIS: Everything You Need to Know

Everyone feels better when their home is clean and germ-free. However, if you are living with a disability, cleaning can sometimes be difficult or even impossible. If you or a member of your family is in this position, the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) might be able to help.

You might be reading this as someone related to a person living with a disability, or perhaps you are generally interested in how you can help make life better for others. One way you can make a difference is by becoming a registered NDIS cleaning provider. If you have cleaning skills and experience and are a great communicator who enjoys spending time with people, this could be the ideal opportunity to put all your talents to good use.

Setting up as an NDIS cleaner is a lot easier if you have a trusted brand behind you. A recognisable name gives you credibility with a far broader customer base and instantly creates the trust you need to provide such an essential service. If you want to achieve this, you could consider opening your own Jim’s Cleaning franchise. This gives you the leverage of a nationally trusted brand. Clients will know you are on the list of NDIS approved cleaners, giving them extra confidence when choosing you as their cleaning provider.

If you would like more information about the NDIS cleaning services we provide or would like to find out more about our franchise businesses, please call us on 131 546. Our team will be happy to help you.

We’ve also put together some key questions about NDIS cleaning services, including what services you could be eligible for under the scheme and how you can access them to make life easier for yourself.

FAQs

How do I get a cleaner through the NDIS?

Whether your NDIS plan is self-managed or managed by the NDIA, you need access to safe, reliable cleaning services for your home. This is an important part of being able to live independently. It also vastly improves your overall wellbeing, as you can enjoy your home environment a lot more if it is clean and tidy.

One of the many areas the NDIS supports is help with household tasks, including cleaning. If your NDIS funds are self-managed (plan managed), you can use any cleaner — they don’t need to be registered with the NDIA. However, if your plan is managed by the NDIA, you can only use registered, NDIS approved cleaners.

At Jim’s Cleaning, we are proud to be NDIS approved cleaners. We are registered with the NDIA to provide a wide variety of NDIS cleaning support. As we have franchises all over Australia, you can easily access our services in whichever state or territory you live in.

One of the most important factors in selecting an NDIS cleaner is trust. You need to feel comfortable with any cleaner working in your home. We work closely with support services and families to provide the highest quality of NDIS cleaning services to those on both NDIA plans and self-managed plans. Our highly trained and experienced cleaning staff are all police checked, so you can feel completely safe letting us into your home.

Our dedicated team is always happy to discuss your cleaning needs with you. If you are looking for an NDIS approved cleaning company, you can contact us, and we can take care of all the details for you, making things as easy and straightforward as possible, so you don’t need to worry.

Can NDIS fund my carpet cleaning?

Every plan is different, and the NDIS cleaning support you can access under your plan will depend on your individual needs. However, the list of NDIS cleaning services that are technically available is extensive and includes carpet cleaning if this is something you cannot do yourself. Cleaning your carpets thoroughly is a challenging task for anyone living with a disability, but it makes so much difference to the look and feel of your home. It also improves the air quality and reduces the risk of allergies.

We can give all the carpets in your home a deep clean, remove any dirt or stains, and restore your carpets to their former glory as a beautiful feature in your home. We can also take care of any other aspects of home cleaning you may need help with. General house cleaning services include a vast array of day-to-day jobs such as vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, washing the dishes and making your bed. These tasks make an enormous difference to your sense of well-being.

At times, you might require a more specialist service such as cleaning the oven or the windows. These are also services that you can use your NDIS plan to access as and when you need them. Your NDIS approved cleaners will take the most excellent care with these jobs, providing you with sparkling results you can enjoy.

In addition, the outside areas of your home should not be forgotten, as they contribute significantly to your sense of pride and enjoyment in where you live. From cleaning your driveway to pressure cleaning your patio or any other outdoor space, every job will make a huge difference and will be completed to the highest standards. Everyone wants to look out of their clean windows and see a beautifully cleaned and maintained outdoor area, which is where our services can help.

The NDIS is all about helping you maintain your independence, and going out is a significant part of this. As a result, if your plan states that you need it, you can also access car cleaning on the NDIS. This includes cleaning and vacuuming your car inside and out so you can truly get the most enjoyment from your time on the road.

When you’re living with a disability, a lot of cleaning tasks can be challenging. This is why the NDIS is there to provide you with the support you need. And, as providers of NDIS cleaning, we will work with you so we can make your life easier in any way we can.

How much does the NDIS allow for cleaning?

This depends on a wide variety of factors, as everyone’s circumstances are different. The NDIA will assess your needs, and you will only be able to claim for the NDIS cleaning services that your plan deems necessary. These will all be tasks you are unable to do yourself. The support you receive has to be directly connected to your disability. For example, you might be able to carry out your regular day-to-day cleaning yourself but need help with cleaning the windows. In this case, the NDIS would only pay for window cleaning services.

The NDIA insists that all NDIS cleaning providers charge by the hour. This means before any work is done for you, you need to draw up a service agreement with your cleaning provider, including how much they charge per hour. The NDIS will only cover home cleaning costs up to $50.20 per hour, so your providers must be confident that they can deliver all the services you need for that price. If they charge more than this, you will be expected to cover the extra yourself.

A service agreement is also a good idea because it precisely defines what cleaning services will be provided for you. It gives you extra protection and peace of mind.
